Welcome to all our rose lovers! Update from the Rocky Mountain District Director ....
As we are starting out the New Year with snow and rain one can’t be in the garden so the next best thing is to view all the new roses in the catalogs. The new roses are so enticing to order and have them delivered in the spring in time to plant in your gardens, but beware you need to look for the growing zone to be sure that the roses you have fallen in love with will grow in your area.
There was so much happening at the National Convention in San Diego this past October. It was great to see all our friends and learn what’s new in the rose world. We were able to meet up with a few of the hybridizers while there plus see our new ARS President & Vice President get installed into office. Georgie Bever was also installed as our new regional director, so if your zip code starts with an “8” you are in her region, then I was installed as the new RMD Director and am learning so much of the makings or ARS Headquarters and will be going there in April for a board of directors meeting and while there I will take pictures of the ARS gardens so if you want a program for your rose society or a garden club about the ARS Headquarters and rose just let me know.
There is an ARS Arrangement School / Seminar that is being put on by RMD. The date is March 23rd & 24th, 2019. If you are interested in becoming an arrangement judge this is the class for you. Just sign up and then take the test so you will be an apprentice by the time all the rose shows start in April. If you are interested in taking the exam you need to sign up by Feb. 15th so I can make sure of all your qualifications for becoming an ARS Arrangement judge.
Due to limited space you must register for the class. Any one that is interested in learning how to make the beautiful arrangements we see in our shows is welcome to come and have fun while learning all the techniques of how the best arrangers around can put together a beautiful creation. If you are an arrangement judge already this class will give you the four credits you need to recertify and you only need attend the school on Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and make sure you sign in. I have attached a copy of the registration form so you can print it out and send it in with your $30.00.
The arrangement school/seminar will be held at Fire station # 8, 3737 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO and if you want further information please contact Diana Kilmer, firstname.lastname@example.org
