The Pikes Peak Rose Society is an affiliate of the American Rose Society (www.ARS.org). Made with Xara Web Designer Copyright ©2004-2010 - Pikes Peak Rose Society Up for Volunteering? You have come to the right place. Actually, more items will be added, as time ensues. But, in the meantime, here are some things to ponder and do: The society assists with the roses at the Horticultural Arts Society (HAS) Demonstration garden during the spring, summer, and fall.      Contact Betsy Vasquez, President (390-9759) or sign up at meetings for fertilizing, pruning, dead-heading (removing old blooms to encourage new), and other tasks.  This is a great way to learn how to care for roses!      Each year the society donates Mile High Rose Fertilizer for the Rose Garden at Glen Eyrie.  They could use a hand tending to the roses, too.  Contact Betsy (390-9759) or Pat Ploegsma (322-8608 cell).      Bring food to our monthly meetings when we are not having a potluck or “brown bag” dinner (bring your own).  This is one way to volunteer that many will do, especially when they are not up to doing more.  Contact Aurora Glaze, our Hospitality Chair, by  phone or see her at our meetings. (See the contact page)      Learn how we operate - apprentice with one of our board members or chairs (Rose Show, Membership, Newsletter, Web Site, etc.).  You can look into apprenticing on the Newsletter, Web Site, or for next year’s publicity for the rose show.  This is another great way to learn and contribute at the same time!  (See the contact page)      Train to become a Consulting Rosarian or Master Rosarian.  Ask about how from one of our members who hold this title.      Train to become a Judge for our Rose Shows.  Again, you may inquire with our Consulting Rosarians on this.      Volunteer for many positions needed at our annual rose shows.  You can inquire about these activities any time of the year and learn what is needed.  Meanwhile, look ahead to the spring of each year for when these positions will be needed!  Talk to us at meetings if you are interested.  This is another great way to learn about roses and how to exhibit.      If this isn’t enough, ask us and we will think of more that can be done!
