The Pikes Peak Rose Society is an affiliate of the American Rose Society (www.ARS.org). Made with Xara Web Designer Copyright ©2004-2010 - Pikes Peak Rose Society Now that the 2010 Rose Show is history, it is time to look forward to 2011.  We will review what was so successful, how we can improve, and how to make next year’s show even better. Meanwhile, we can all practice preparing roses and arrangements to be better for next year. Consider reviewing the  Arrangement and Horiticulture (Specimen) Schedules. You can even put together, as a rehearsal, any of the various arrangements or specimen class entries on your own.  As you move through the steps involved in this exercise, learn what works or does not, add to your kit of tools, contact one of our Consulting Rosarians with questions, and enjoy the display in your own home or give it to a friend, relative, or someone who could use some extra cheer.  As our gardens grow in abundance, we can always have fun with roses!                Learn to fill out (or get better at completing) an entry tag.                                              Practice grooming a rose to fit a particular class.      Brainstorm ways to prepare an arrangement to fit a theme or particular criteria.      Make a centerpiece for a gathering you have planned - that fits the criteria of a certain class in the Arrangements Schedule. By going through the motions, creating rose displays that could be entered in a show, you will get better so that entering on the morning of a show is less hectic. And, boy, can it be hectic at times!  See also Novice Tips and other Show links. We would like to enhance the society’s ability to assist newcomers in entering their own roses.  By having your skills honed, you will be more able to assist others who may be newer to the activity. Meanwhile, read, ask questions, come to meetings, volunteer at the HAS Demonstration garden (fertilizing, dead-heading, pruning), and continue to learn. It is a great way to bring balance to a hectic life.                                                                   Beauty will always reduce stress!
